Resistance Core

IONA
Iona is a gardener and artist, committed to her community. Of biracial heritage, she was raised by her white family in largely white suburbs. She went to school to be a painter, got married out of college, and worked at an art gallery before the Collapse. Following the splintering of society, her husband chose the Meld over her. In the wake of that loss, Iona became committed to growing food for her community and working toward resilient neighborhood sovereignty.
KATRINE
Katrine is a neighborhood activist and best friend of Iona, with ties to many community interests including gangs fighting violent turf wars. Passionate about community self-determination, she considers the Meld, with its drugged air and zombie-like hedonism, to be the main threat to her neighborhood’s survival. She seeks to unite the various factional interests in her community against the Meld’s relentless expansion.
CLAIRE
Claire is a sculptural artist and dedicated pacifist. She is Iona’s housemate; they went to college together, but their lives diverged after graduation. She lives a free-spirited life of good music and creative pursuits. Committed to the vibrancy of the community arts scene, she believes that culture and joy are what will ultimately keep people from succumbing to the existential anxiety and depression that gives the Meld its allure.
VINSON
Vinson is a courier, general laborer and anarchist organizer who loves 90s/00s culture and his van, named Lucille, which he refitted to run on vegetable oil biofuel. He sleeps in his van and knows the mid-Atlantic region like the back of his hand from ferrying raw materials, salvaged goods, food and other goods. He’s remarkably at home in the post-apocalypse and is a walking rolodex of radical groups all across the city.
